For nearly three decades, Architectural Salvage San Diego was a beloved source for one-of-a-kind architectural pieces, carefully curated by its original owner, Elizabeth Scalice. More than just a shop, it became a go-to destination for homeowners, designers, and artists looking for materials with history and character.
When Elizabeth decided to step away after 28 years, I knew this was more than just a business opportunity—it was a chance to continue a legacy that deeply resonated with me. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of salvaged materials, seeing potential in the forgotten, the cast-off, the worn but wonderful. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been repurposing objects—turning discarded materials into art, finding new ways to bring life to things others might overlook. Taking on Architectural Salvage San Diego felt like a natural extension of this lifelong passion.
A New Space, The Same Passion for Salvage
With a growing inventory and evolving vision, the store relocated to a historic space in San Diego, the Marston Department Store building at 427 C Street, allowing us to offer even more salvaged finds sourced worldwide. While the location may have changed, our mission remains the same: to rescue, restore, and rehome architectural materials that tell a story.
Walking through our doors, you’ll still find antique doors, stained glass, lighting, reclaimed wood, and hardware—pieces that once belonged to homes, businesses, and historic buildings. But we’re also expanding what we offer by making our inventory available online and adding new ways for customers to connect with the materials they love.
More Than a Store: A Space for Creativity & Connection
For me, salvaging isn’t just about preservation—it’s about reinvention. I love seeing how people transform these materials, turning them into something unexpected. That’s why we’re introducing:

I’m so happy your open. I do restoration on historical homes here in San Diego. The owners have been asking for quite a while where they can go to obtain architectural items for their homes. This is so great I’m sending a customer your way today. I’ll be in to check it all out myself.

I’m so sad that I missed an opportunity to visit your store when I was visiting in March. When I was in SD in September of 2025, I was under the impression the business was closing, and in fact, I tried to visit but the shop was closed. I am attempting to relocate to SD County in 2026, and if you’re open, I”m definitely visiting! I’m a retiree, doing art stuff on the side, and always looking for pieces that will mesh with my artistic interests.
